Greetings from the Mt. Washington Auto Road, the site of the historic "Climb to the Clouds" auto race which was first run July 11-12 in 1904.

We are happy to announce and invite you to the
Climb to the Clouds Vintage Hillclimb on September 13 - 14, 2008!

Recognized as one of America's oldest motorsports event, the Climb to the Clouds pre-dates the Indianapolis 500, first held in 1911 and the inaugural Pikes Peak Hillclimb of 1916.

The race was originally created by early auto manufacturers to showcase their new inventions. The steep and narrow Mt. Washington Carriage Road (now the Mt. Washington Auto Road) was considered to be the ultimate site to prove the ability of these now historic vehicles. Opened in 1861, the Auto Road is America's oldest manmade attraction and leads to the summit of 6,288 foot Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast.

The principle organizations for this event are the Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA) and the White Mountain Chapter BMW Club.

The Climb to the Clouds Vintage Hillclimb scheduled for September 13 - 14, 2008 will feature a vintage car Hillclimb up the Mt. Washington Auto Road to halfway up to the 6,288 ft. peak. Vehicles from the 100 year history are expected to compete along with other cars of noteworthy race and automotive history.

The Hillclimb last year had 25 very interesting and exciting cars competing. Cars included those with significant Climb to the Clouds history, like the "Old Grey Mare" the record setting car in 1935 and 1938, and a 1939 MG-TB of John Schiefelin that won this year's consistency award.
